Vams is a 2-ply woollen spun yarn made from 100% Norwegian wool. This is Rauma's thickest yarn, but is lightly spun to incorporate plenty of air, which produces a yarn that is thick and voluminous, but not heavy, making even large garments feel light and airy. The word "vams" means easy in Norwegian, and due to the thickness of the yarn, Vams produces fast and easy to knit garments and is therefore a good yarn for beginners.
Vams is ideal for thicker garments and textured knit, and is also good for felting. As the yarn is so lightly spun, Rauma use the fleeces of adult sheep for more durability and to avoid pilling.
This yarn is produced in a vast range of over 70 colours, but from that range we have chosen 21 heathered colours (dyed on a natural grey base) as well as a natural white.
