Humulus is a collaboration between the designer Isabell Kraemer and Laine des Iles. Humulus (the botanical name for hops) is a lovely sweater that celebrates the elegant hop flower, its flavours and its decorative qualities. The plant is described variously as zesty, piney, earthy and floral. This sweater encompasses all of these with its delicate colourwork pattern knitted in a warm and slightly rustic yarn. It is like being wrapped in a hug.
This round yoke sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. After the neck is done, short-rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck. Then the pretty colourwork yoke is worked top down to sleeve separation. Some final short-rows are worked to finish the yoke shaping before placing the sleeve sts on hold. The body is worked first in rounds down to the hem. Then sleeve sts are picked up again to work the sleeves in the round top down to the cuffs.
